MIPTV is fast approaching, and that means that the call for entries is now open for our annual MIPTV Picks feature, in which realscreen selects several “can’t miss” projects making their way to the market.
As we’ve done for previous MIP markets, this year realscreen will once again be throwing open its site for online clip submissions in six categories:
· Factual Entertainment
· History
· Lifestyle
· Music, Arts & Culture
· Political, Social & Religious
· Science & Nature
Upload your new clips (around 5 to 8 minutes in length), and our editorial panel will select the best of the submissions to feature in our upcoming MIPTV issue and on realscreen.com. The clip the panel ranks highest will be named Best in Show.
Of course, certain rules apply:
i) clips must be submitted through the realscreen site (www.realscreen.com/upload/ – to the attention of Barry Walsh) on or before Thursday, February 17, 2011. In the ‘Instructions’ box, please include some background on the project (production company partners, distributor/distributors, rights available, broadcasters, if any). (Ignore the ‘Advertiser’ box.);
ii) clips must be from new projects coming to MIP for the first time in filmed form (projects previously pitched are acceptable, providing filming had not wrapped previous to MIPCOM 2010);
iii) up to 3 clips may be submitted from any one production company;
iv) Format suggestions: video compression format H.264 is the recommended compression format (preferably QuickTimes or WMVs). Any other format will be recompressed again, resulting in degradation of the video. Frame Rate: max 30fps. Bitrate: 800kbits/sec. Quality: Best. Size: Maximum width 360px, regardless of aspect ratio
Audio format: AAC. Channels: Stereo or Mono. Rate: 44.1Khz
Prepare for Internet Streaming: Fast Start, or Fast Start – Compressed Header
As a guideline, this should produce videos that are less than 5MB per 30 seconds. Please do not upload files which exceed that guideline.
Thanks and good luck. Read more
