The East Siberian Taiga is one of the largest ecosystems in Russia. The area is home for bears, moose, reindeer, sable, ermine and other animals, including impressively self-reliant white Russian citizens concentrated around the Bakhtia village. That the flora and fauna is so similar to Canada makes the cultural differences even more fascinating. The locals have managed to preserve their own cultural traditions for centuries, give or take a chainsaw, or motorboat or two.
