“In the best films you want to get to a place where you’re not making a documentary about your subjects but you’re making it with them” – Steve James
In this masterclass, Steve James will share his insights on the filmmaking craft by analyzing scenes from some of his most recognized films and answer questions from Vancouver filmmakers and film-lovers. James’ narratively and ethically complex works will serve as a vehicle to discuss issues such as documentary ethics and the subject-filmmaker relationship, among others.
This event is open to the public. Ticket-buyers will be given access to one of James’ films in order to prepare for the session. Click here to get your tickets!
